Permanent Makeup
Permanent makeup, or permanent cosmetics, is a specialty tattooing technique that accentuates facial features or creates new ones.
Stephanie Rorke currently offers both permanent brows and lip blushing, you can read more about these services below.
Is permanent makeup a safe?
Yes, the procedure is performed in sterile conditions, using only disposable needle cartridges. There are no long-term negative side effects and no known allergic reactions to the pigments used.
Does permanent makeup hurt?
A topical anesthetic is applied before the procedure begins so the actual tattooing part just feels like a tickling sensation. There may be minor pain and swelling for up to 24 hours after the anesthetic wears off. To manage any swelling, keep the treated area clean and gently apply a cold compress when needed. Please see links at the bottom of this page for Aftercare Instruction Cards.
*If you have had a recent outbreak of fever blisters, please consult with your doctor for a prescription of Valtrex or similar product before booking a lip blushing procedure. Trauma to that area can cause an outbreak so preventative measures are best.
Is permanent makeup and tattooing the same thing?
Not quite. Only permanent makeup specialists can perform tattooing on the face. The pigments used are also specifically designed for micro-pigmentation procedures, making it safe, sterile, and painless. Permanent makeup clinicians also use effective topical anesthetics that are not allowed for use by tattoo artists.
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the service type, it will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours after completing the client intake form and consultation.
How long does permanent makeup last?
Individual results will vary and are dependent on the pigment shades used, amount of sun exposure and personal care. Most colours last three to five years, but some may not fade for as long as 10 years. Touch-ups are recommended periodically to maintain your results and changes may be made to the colours/shapes if personal preferences change (ie. a nude lip can be darkened, brow arches can be raised).
Can I get permanent makeup done after wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers, chemical peels or laser treatments?
You should wait at least one week before having any permanent cosmetic procedure done, and depending on the type and severity of the treatment, itβs best to wait up to 3 weeks. Please consult your dermatologist or aesthetician before booking permanent makeup.
How do I know what colours work for me?
Your ideal shades and preferred shapes will be discussed during your consultation. There are certain pigments that will best complement your skin tone, hair colour, and wardrobe and Stephanie is there to guide you through it all. All procedures include a pre-drawn shape and/or colour of the treated so you can visualize the finished result before the procedure begins.
