Eyelash Extensions
Lash extensions are the adhesion of artificial lashes to your natural lashes. Extensions are semi-permanent, lasting for weeks at a time which makes them a great option for special events and vacations. To upkeep your lash extensions style, a fill should be booked every 2-4 weeks. There are unlimited styles of extensions ranging from natural, to wispy, to ultra voluminous! You can read more about the most common 3 lash styles below.
CLASSIC LASHES
The application of one lash extension to each natural lash, resulting in the most natural effect.
This is the most popular type of lash extension and is a great option for first-time lash extension clients.
If you have thick and short or thick and straight lashes, this may also be a great option for you as this style will just add the length and curl that you’re missing. If you have sparse lashes, a Hybrid lash style may be a better option as it will also add the density that you’re missing.
HYBRID LASHES
The application of one or more extensions to each natural lash, resulting in a more dense or “wispy” appearance.
Hybrid extensions create more drama than Classic styles, and range in shape and density. Depending on the style of lash, you will either have one extension, or multiple extensions (fans) applied to each of your natural lashes. The length and number of extensions applied to your natural lash will always depend on the strength and length of each individual lash. Your technician will advise appropriately to ensure safe practices.
VOLUME LASHES
The application of multiple extensions to each natural lash, resulting in dramatic length/density.
For optimal drama each natural lash will have multiple extensions applied to them. This a great option if you have strong and healthy lashes, or if you are an experienced extension wearer. If you have short, sparse or weak natural lashes, you may not be a good candidate for volume lashes. Please contact us with a close up photo of your natural lashes and we can advise you.
Lash F.A.Q.’s
-
No not at all. Most people actually find it quite relaxing, and some even fall asleep during the appointment. It feels like you’re just having your lashes gently combed and separated for 1-2 hours, and before you know it, you’re done!
-
This really depends on a few things…
The style of the lash extensions. Classic lashes will take the shortest amount of time, usually 1-1.5 hours depending on how many natural lashes you have. Hybrid lashes often take more mapping time, and volume lashes require more suave isolation techniques so these styles take 1.5-2 hours.
*If you have naturally dense lashes, a Classic set can take just as long as a hybrid set on someone with more sparse natural lashes. This is why it’s so important to block off extra personal time if you are a first time client OR if it’s your first time seeing a new lash technician.
The state of your natural lashes. If you have naturally tangly or curly lashes this may increase application time.
Your technicians experience. Seasoned lash techs will be more efficient overall, so if you’re curious about timing, just ask the person you booked with! -
If it has been more than 4 weeks, or if you only have 50% or less of your lash extensions remaining, you will most likely need a full set.
If you booked yourself in for a fill, but you show up to your appointment requiring a full set, please be aware that you may need to come back at a later date to complete your service. In the case where a full set can be completed, you will be charged for the full set, plus an overlap fee of $20 as the extra time will cut into following appointments.
To save yourself the inconvenience, please book in the appropriate appointment as there may not be any openings within the week to complete your full set.
If you’re unsure if you need a fill or a new set, please contact your lash technician directly with a photo of your lashes and they can advise you. -
AVOID contact with heat, steam and moisture for at least 24-48 hours after your appointment. This means no showers, saunas, hot tubs, baking or vigorous exercise that may cause extreme sweating.
AVOID using any oil based products around the immediate eye area. These substances can cause the adhesive to break down, and result in the lash extensions falling out. Some common oil based products include heavy night creams, waterproof makeup removers and sunscreen.
CLEAN LASHES DAILY with a gentile brush and a lash shampoo. Dirty lashes can attract lash mites, cause irritation and increase your chances of an eye infection. Lash shampoo and brushes are available for purchase at the Beauty Bar.
DO NOT pick at, or peel off your lash extensions as this will cause trauma to your natural lashes. If you wish you have your lashes removed, please come in to have your tech remove them properly. -
No, not if done by a certified lash technician, and cared for properly by you!
It is perfectly normal to lose 1-5 lashes per day. So don’t be alarmed if you start to see your lashes around your home. They are just more visible now because there is a longer, darker, curlier lash attached to them.
