Brow Lamination & Tinting

A brow lamination is a “straight perm” for your brows using eye safe solutions that relax the brow hairs and set them into place. Since the hairs are directed upwards, a lamination results in fuller looking brows with hairs that also lay flatter on to the face. The service takes approx. 40-60 minutes, and lasts 4-8 weeks depending on aftercare and your hairs natural growth-rate.

Does a brow lamination hurt?

No, but if you are currently using retinols, AHA, BHA, Vitamin C, or other chemical exfoliants please discontinue use at least 1-2 weeks before your appointment. These active ingredients cause the skin to soften, and become more sensitive to the perming products as well as any waxes used for hair removal. A recent sunburn, certain medications and previous facial treatments may also cause the skin to become irritated. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns.

I have very thin brows, am I a good candidate for a lamination?

It depends what you mean by thin. If you have “fine” strands and light coloured hairs, but lots of them, you are a great candidate! A lamination will help to shape your brows, and the tint will create depth. If you have “thin” brows, meaning very little hair available, a lamination will not do much for you. In this case, you will benefit more from airbrush brows or permanent makeup which are offered by Victoria Racco and Stephanie Rorke. You can contact them here.

Will my brows be “stuck” to my face?

Not at all. They may appear like that when you see photos online, but your hairs will be flexible and you can still comb through them like usual. A lamination just makes the hairs more obedient, so if you comb them in place, they will stay there without you having to use a brow gel.

How do I know if I’m a good candidate for a brow lamination?

You may not be a good candidate for a lamination if you…

  • have sensitive skin, a recent sun burn or are usually sensitive to glues and/or dyes

  • have skin conditions around the brow area (eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis), or open wounds

  • had Chemotherapy within the last 6 months - please consult doctor

  • have Trichotillomania (compulsive pulling or twisting of the hair, eyebrows)

  • had semi-permanent brow procedure done the last 6 weeks

  • have damaged or weak brow hairs

*If any of the above are apparent when you arrive at your appointment your service may be refused. Heath and safety is something we take seriously at 61 Beauty Bar and our clients are our number one priority!
